... cont'd from the yesterday's post

I was really depressed yesterday.

Because everyone's busy, or will be busy even in the holidays (due to thesis etc) and hence, I have no friends to hang out with or go overseas with.

Well, my colleagues made my day though. They tried to cheer me up. And one of them even let me rant to her a lot and then she'll go "ok..., 1, 2, 3" and that's the signal for both of us to sigh loudly together. HAHA. Lame huh. But sometimes simple things like that is enough to make me feel a little better huh.

And maybe we're planning a bintan trip together! Haha. Hope they manage to settle the therapy sessions in the weekends with our boss so that we can go overseas for the weekend. Hope it'll work out somehow! :)

What lovely colleagues I have. I'll miss them when I leave in 1.5 months time.

After work, I headed for school to join in Hak 15's last meeting! The leaders invited the Hak 14 peeps back to do some sharing. Really sweet of them to do that. And quite a lot of us turned up too. I think there were 8 of us. Hehe I hope we weren't too disruptive though. Cuz we're just a noisy bunch. Haha. I was honestly glad to see everyone. I haven't met many friends recently too because people are generally busy during this period. So I was glad to suddenly have a little bit of "life" rather than just going home after work and rotting. For once, I felt so much "want" to meet up with friends...

Recently, I started talking to random friends to ask them how they're doing and all.
There are really many friends I would love to catch up with. Hope there'll be time when the holiday starts!

#throwback

On 18th Sept, I accompanied the choir in a song during mass.

I think I didn't play well because the nervousness got ahead of me. Sigh. But here's a video of it! Can here a little bit of my playing in the background? Haha. Luckily the mistakes weren't too obvious :x

My church mate once again invited me to accompany the choir on 10th Jan :) Very honoured for the opportunity but I might want to go overseas, so I'm not too sure if I can join in. She sent me the violin sheet and a recording too. And wow..... It's really beautiful piece. I don't know if I can play the violin this well :O I might just destroy this beautiful song. Here's the linkie. Go listen :)

Sometimes I just wish I'm not the only one who gets disappointed.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Work in the afternoon was actually fun today. Our boss wasn't around and my colleagues let me try therapy with the kid that I have never taken. All I said to one of my colleague was that I feel that this internship has been very stagnant for me. And then she called out to my other colleague and told her to let me try. And then, yep, I was given a chance to try :)

I think I did fine for the table work, but maybe not so for other things like music imitation and play imitation (non table work). But yep, at least I got to try and was guided by my colleague!! :) super thankful to them.

And of course I get to escape doing summary too. Hah.

I'll talk to my boss next week! Needa pick up some courage to ask!

Yup. My life as an intern is stagnant. Very very stagnant.
I'm left with... 1.75 months to the end of this internship. I want to learn to do therapy with more of the kids here. But I'm not sure if I should ask if I can learn. I'm not sure if it's because I'm not that capable and hence my boss is not assigning me to new kids. Or she is waiting for me to take initiative? I don't know...

I heard this from my colleague. That bosses like people who take initiative. Anyway, who doesn't like such people right? My colleague said that my boss would like to see potential employees (PE) to take the initiative to interact with the kids at the centre. AKA when PEs come for interview, my boss might allow the PE to sit in for a therapy session and let the PE observe how the therapy is run. And my boss actually observes how the PE interacts with the kid in the room.

Yup, so if you ever work in this field, do interact with the kids when you have the chance to during interviews.

That said, I remembered how passive I was during my first two weeks here. I sat in to observe for almost every therapy session during my first two weeks but I didn't really dare to talk much to the kids I observed. I have my reasons. Not because I didn't want to interact, but I was afraid I said the wrong things (I might be reinforcing certain behaviours which I'm not supposed to) and I was also afraid of being disruptive. But yea, in the future, I will be more proactive in interacting with the kids if I were to go into this field again.

Honestly, after having opportunities to conduct therapy on my own, at times when someone had to butt in and interact with the kid etc, I find that some of the interactions can be a little disruptive at times. But yea, I'm a mere intern and all of them have so much more experience than me. I don't think I can say much.

After a bad night, and a slightly unbearable morning because of my queasy stomach, this message that I saw at noon made me finally smile.

Sometimes it's the little things that count.

Thank you.

And my colleagues totally made my day feel so much better too. Lunch break was fun :)

So, I was applying for a research assistant position for some neuropsy lab at NUHS. I emailed her my edited CV. Not sure if  it's a part time or full time position. Obviously if it's a full time one, I wouldn't be able to commit as I have school next semester onwards.

And then... the researcher replied.

Guess what. She asked for MY TRANSCRIPT.

LOL.

Gone. My. Chance. Is. Gone.

Merry Christmas to  me. Haha.

It was Nini's birthday on Sunday!

I think there were a lot of potential for surprises, but I know I really suck at surprising. I can't hold back information.... Or my actions will totally give everything away. Haha.. Oh well...

Made him chocolate mousse and that was his "cake," but this cake was a rather fail one D: My first attempt was much better. The taste of this one was better than the first, but the texture was totally wrong. Sighpie. But yep, we went to a nearby park to sing the birthday song, make a wish and blow candles!

Then we lunched at Gyu-Kaku @ Chjmes and guess what, WE DID NOT ORDER (!!!) ANY WAGYU BEEF. Haha. Because this dearie was too disgusted to eat any more meat. Well, that kinda happens sometimes when people go for BBQs and buffets heh.

I think I did stupid/weird things, like twice, and the waiter laughed at me (!!!) It wasn't crowded that day, so he was roaming around our table and our neighbour's table most of the time. Then I could see him laughing at me... LOL. Ohoh, and then I paid for the bill and I lied to Nini that I haven't paid. Haha then Nini went to the counter with the waiter and tried to settle the bill. Fun to trick this Nini :D

Then we headed to Marina Barrage to picnic/fly kite! And guess what, OUR KITE FLEW THE HIGHEST! We purposely uncoiled the strings to the max - that's how it managed to fly the highest. Haha! And it was funny how the kite continued to "shake and shiver" - aka super unstable, even when it was flying so high up. Everyone else's kite were very stable. But anyway, we were ecstatic when our kite finally managed to fly so high up! It took us quite a long time to get it to fly. Before that, it kept twirling around 360 degrees. Sometimes it flew a bit and then phew down soon after...

A video how the kite flew a little (instead of wobbling and tumbling down!)

Anyway, I'm really thankful for the uber nice weather. PSI levels were low that day too. Such a blessing to be able to play outdoors :) There were quite a lot of people at the barrage too. Nice seeing parents bringing their children out, picnic-ing, teaching their children to fly kite etc. I think I would love to do this in the future with my children too :)

After that, we had dinner with a few of NY's friends - Matilda, Kim Yong and William. Just a few of us but it was an interesting night chatting with them. They're very open people. So I tried my best to be as open-minded as possible too!

Hope the boyfie enjoyed his day!

So, I'M DONE WITH THEORY EXAMS! *pops confetti*
I think I nailed it. HAHA. Hoping for the best results, hopefully a distinction. But I guess merit is fine too. Erm, but I'd still prefer a distinction *grins* I'm rather confident about the paper overall, hmm, except composition. I think I did quite a lot of practices for theory already. Of course, more practice papers could have been done... I'm thankful that the paper wasn't too hard. I did some past year papers and some papers had really difficult sections. I'm thankful that this year's paper was manageable.

My exam was at Suntec Convention Hall! Heh, cool huh. I thought theory exams today would still be conducted at some random primary school classroom, just like in the past. But nope. It's at some atas place now. My violin partner's examination hall was at Grand Mecure Roxy Hotel No wonder exam fees have increased and now we pay SGD149 for grade 5 theory exams. HAHA.

Just Monday, I met up with Nic & SY! Haha we got treated by Nic because his first pay! Omg! Feeling so honoured that he treated us to a meal with his first pay. And it was my first time to Swee Choon (ikr, don't judge me) and I love the chilli thingy dumplings hahahaha. Super delicious. Okay I basically love all sorts of dumplings!

AND SO GLAD SY GOT A JOB ALREADY!! *pops more confetti*

And it's so uber cool that both Nic and SY are gonna be working in the same place :) Heh, I'm always the odd one out. Me no work there. They join a lot of stuffs together too. Me no join. I feel really heart warmed by their actions to serve others though.

Anyway, haze has been bad recently.

Look, can't even see MBS.

But you know what, there were still so many tourists in that area!

We act like tourist also haha

:D

Oh I don't know if it's because of the haze or some other reasons (like Adventure Cove is better), Wild Wild Wet was not crowded at all. It's a good and bad thing. Good because we don't really have to queue to get on the rides. Bad because... don't have the mood lor. Haha. But well, I still had fun playing the rides! Torpedo (new ride if you guys don't know) was quite scary but awesome! Free fall for about 2-3 metres (don't underestimate this number) and the slide is uber fast that it could hurt your butt. HAHA. And the V-shaped thingy, I didn't quite enjoy it when I took that ride a long time ago, but I think it's one of the better rides now! :D

Quite excited for WWW to expand. Maybe the expanded park area will be done by 2018? Idk. Anyway, Nini and I got the unlimited pass for WWW. If anyone dares to use our card (there's photo on our card but it's not really clear, so maybe can smuggle yourself in haha) and is keen on going WWW, you can ask from us :D Erm, maybe for a small fees of $6.66? Just kidding.

I also met up with Jac for RAMEN! My ramen buddy. HAHA. I had cravings for super spicy ramen so we headed to Ramen Champion. The ramen that I ordered was meh :/ Not spicy enough! I told the person I wanted the super spicy one and he warned me that people usually can't finish it. After trying the ramen, I can understand why people don't finish it. That's just because the portion is HUGE. But neh, not spicy enough. I shall go back for my Go-to-hell buta ramen next time! :3

We always meet up to talk about all sorts of random things from school to cosmetics. It was fun :D And she's getting prettier and prettier day by day! Haha. I'm jealous of her nice skin! But yea, I'm spending more time taking care of my skin now too. Hope it'll get better!

Oh right, before I met up with Jac, I went to the polyclinic to consult on my toe with a blood clot. A FREAKING WASTE OF MONEY. LOL. I was in there for like... a minute? And when the doc saw my toe, he gave that mocking grin. LOL. Ownage. It was embarrassing for me. So anyway, he referred me to some podiatrician. Wow. I paid $22.50 for that 1 minute consultation. Wowowow. I think for PRs, it's probably more worth it to go to a GP, than polyclinic if one has to pay $22.50 per consultation. GPs charge about $25 I think, for a short consultaton.

But anyway, at the polyclinic, if you book an appointment before, you basically don't have to wait much and before you know it, they are calling for your number and you can go in for consultation. So it's really efficient. Thumbs up on that! But thumbs down on the price for PR. Haha.

I finally got to meet busy Joshua and Emmeline too (on separate occasions)! Hawker food with Joshua and DTF with Emm! For once Joshua is eating something cheap. Hahaha. And I had so many xlb & dumplings with Emm! Yum yummmz. Can't ever get enough of them. It was a lovely catch up session with both of them.

Glad that everyone is somewhat surviving mid sem/mid internship :)
