Being an adult might mean gritting your teeth to do things that you don't like, working for shitty bosses who don't appreciate you, but at the same time still know how to care for yourself to prevent burn-out.

How do adults actually do all these?

I wonder if I'm not 'adult' enough.

Just counting down to Pay Day.

This week, I've kickstarted my exercising regime!

Monday: Pilates class
Wednesday: Run
Saturday: Run

I was supposed to start last week but lo and behold (maybe it's not that surprising on hindsight), I fell sick. Fever, throat infection, cough, vomiting, constipation - it sounds bad but actually neh, they weren't that bad. I wasn't dying, I just couldn't go to work. Work at the studio was hectic last week. 5 corporate workshops in 3 days, and there were ongoing trial and regular classes. I MC-ed on Wednesday and Friday because I was sick and I figured that the stress would have gotten to me and aggravate my illness. Thursday I went to work though because I only had 1 day of MC and yes it was really stressful plus I haven't fully recovered and that's when the vomiting started. I felt quite bad that I had to fall sick at such a 'good' timing. While things worked out fine in the end but my boss had to cover my duties and it's one less helping hand during busy periods aka more burden on everyone else.

I'm glad I had the break though. I guess I really needed that rest. I rested a lot, slept a lot, and ate healthily on the days that I was on MC and in the weekends. And I have recovered. Well, except for my constipation.

I'm gonna try eating more fruits and exercising and getting myself to stick to a routine of passing motion. When you're shitting in the toilet, think of me please! Don't take shitting for granted because there are people like me who can't. Sigh.

I gained a lot of weight in the last few weeks and it really scared the hell out of me like what am have I done wrong? Is it because I'm ageing? Am I eating that much more (even though I think I'm eating as per normal)? Am I falling sick? Etc etc. In the end, I figured it was most likely because of my constipation problem. Food go in but nothing comes out *face palm*

That aside, zw encouraged me to start exercising. So yes, this is the routine that I/we have created.

I learnt really useful things in Pilates class and from my recent hike to Mt Ophir which I applied to my run yesterday. They worked wonders for me.

When running,
1) Try to keep your breathing constant. Try not to pant; notice your breath and control your breathing instead. Breathe consistently.
2) Focus on the moment.

I think (1) is true for everyone. You should try. It really makes me less tired. Our body needs oxygen to flow in our body consistently to work better. By the way, I have little muscleache from my run yesterday. It's crazy because I always ache like crazy after runs. Especially now that it's a 4.3km run around the Reservoir..

(2) may or may not work well for you, but it works wonders for me. Previously I realised that looking ahead and looking (out) for the end goal (whether it's in sight or not) makes me want to give up because it always feels arduous and long. Like I'll be thinking in my head 'omg still so far from the end' and I'll feel slightly dejected. But once I stopped myself from looking in front, and just focus on each and every step, focus on my breathing, I realised that the run became a lot more manageable! No more negative thoughts, no more thinking about 'still so far,' 'why haven't reach,' etc. And I focus on my steps, my breathing and I just run and run and I finish my run.

For some people, looking at the end goal motivates them. But this doesn't really work for me...

So yes. These are my two (literally) cents. But we all gotta find out and notice what works for us.
